Scholarships & Awards
The Kip Kephart Foundation has provided scholarships and awards in the arts through some of the finest academic institutions in the State of Virginia for several years. View some of the awards we have provided to the following institutions:
The Richmond Ballet
The Kip Kephart Foundation is proud to sponsor The Malcolm Burn Award to the School of Richmond Ballet. This is a scholarship award presented each year by the School of Richmond Ballet to two “talented, well-mannered young men who display the required work ethic, temperament, and artistic potential to pursue a career in ballet.”
The University of Richmond
The Kip Kephart Foundation makes a strong contribution to the University's permanent collections through its funding of the Bobby Chandler Award in Music & Art. Since 1990, this cash purchase award given each year to an outstanding art major is intended to benefit the student, as well as enable the University to continue to add to its ongoing permanent collections.
Virginia Commonwealth University
The Bobby Chandler Awards in Theater were established in 2002 , in honor of Kip's friend, Bobby Chandler, who was an alumnus of Richmond Professional Institute, which, along with the Medical College of Virginia, merged into Virginia Commonwealth University in 1968. The annual awards are given to outstanding seniors in three of the Theater Department's major areas of study: performance, theater design, and technical design.
The Virginia Museum of History & Culture
The Virginia Historical Society awards the Bobby Chandler Student of the Year Award, to a local high school student who demonstrates distinction in historical research and scholarship. Began in 1996, the award is given to a student who completes a paper or classroom project that is creative, uses original primary source materials, and demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of some facet of American history.
